Web Design

Design is commonly perceived as the visual aspect of any construct, from shape, representation, colour and tone, but in the realm of web pages this only half of the full picture. Web design encompasses both the visual construction and representation of a page in how it is perceived and use by consumers but also the building blocks behind the visuals, which make the visual representations and interaction possible. Wherein the architect designs and plans the outlook and visual aspects of a building, the builder provides the necessary structure and functionality for the home to become a whole design. Web design incorporates various programs to develop the two main elements of its construction. These are referred to in industry as ‘Front-end and ‘Back-end’ development and represent the users experience and the delivery of that experience sequentially.

Front-end development incorporates elements such as html and css and is enhance by JavaScript and ajax. This focus primarily on visual elements of a site including headline layout, content presentation and flow/placement of information across a page.

Back end, using scripting such as PHP, asp and cgi to enable functionality, usability and streamline user experience.

The essence of web design I to provide the smoothest most engaging experience for the user whilst displaying the relevant information and in the most efficient and accessible way. By increasing engagement, marketers gain greater access to consumers and are better able to relay their intended messages.
