Google Analytics is a freemium website analytics tool offered by Google that is used broadly to track website traffic and report findings to its user. In a business sense, Google Analytics is used by businesses of various industries in the online space to measure traffic coming to sites, the amount of time spent on a site as well as what the visitors clicked on. This enables marketers to perceive the behaviour of consumers and in turn develop advertising and marketing strategies to increase the likelihood of consumer traffic, further increasing their exposure and reach of message to target markets. Google Analytics employs Adwords to further measure online effectiveness by tracking companies, allowing users to see progress of page landings, goals, interpret and analyse trends. Google Analytics is used heavily in conjunction with SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to analyse what key words are searched for by specific consumers, allowing marketers to alter the wording in ads and pages to best allow for greater traffic.
