As of May 20, 2015 Google has changed the name and rebranded the service from Google Webmaster Tools to Google Search Console. Previously known as Webmatser Tools. Google Search Console is a free web service managed by Google that allows users to monitor and manage their website. This service analyses and interprets the information to help users optimise their performance in Google’s search results.
Google Search Console is an essential tool for all website owners (especially SEOs) to use if they are interested in improving all their SEO efforts. Helpful features that the tool provides include:
- Submitting and checking site maps
- Lists of all broken links for the site
- Lists all external and external pages to the site
- General overview and statistics of Google SERP’s and indexes
