Social media serves as a contemporary form of media, which emphasises an interaction with a user, just a much as delivering content to them. Social media traditionally ranges from platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to blogs, websites and mobile communication applications but in essence social media covers any medium that provides the opportunity for user feedback and interaction. This can be as simple as a ‘leave us a comment’ section at the bottom of a webpage to a fully integrated flash gaming experience. Social media relies on the interconnectivity of consumers in the digital space (through sites such as Twitter and Tumblr) and their ongoing use and interaction with each other across these mediums. Social Media is a powerful tool for strengthening and promoting your brand as it allows you to reach and interact with you target market on a personal level, providing the opportunity to engage with them in a more effective manor.
