Facebook recently introduced Facebook “shops” in a plan to aid small businesses with their eCommerce initiatives. The Facebook shopping mall acts as a shortcut for retailers to sell products online without the need to create their own eCommerce website

Throughout the pandemic, retailers have stepped away from brick-and-mortar stores in favour of the digital shopping experience. This is because eCommerce stores provide a way for businesses to reach new target customers – and Facebook Shops makes this even easier!

What is Facebook Shopping Mall?

Facebook Shops allows businesses to set up free storefronts and sell their products directly to Facebook and Instagram users. This allows users to browse and purchase products on the app, without being redirected to a third-party store.

Using Facebook, businesses can set up an online store, customise the look of their shop using their own branding, and feature individual products with just a few clicks. This allows any seller to bring their business online and easily connect with customers regardless of their location.

Customers are able to find Facebook storefronts via a business’s Facebook Page or Instagram profile. They can also discover them through ads or stories.  Using Facebook Shops, customers can contact the business using WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram Direct to ask questions, get support, track deliveries and more.

Benefits of Facebook Shops

Facebook boasts an impressive 1.4 billion daily users who spend about 41 minutes per day using the app. Many of these people spend their time shopping on Facebook Marketplace and discovering new businesses.

In our previous blog post, The Best Online Marketplaces to Sell Your Products, we looked at popular eCommerce marketplaces as well as the benefits of using these shared platforms.

Those benefits are consistent with those of the new Facebook Shopping Mall. You can launch your products fast, reach online audiences and quickly develop a positive reputation for your brand. This set-up process is painless and affordable and can help to advance your sales.

If you choose to run your entire business operations using Facebook, this is called a ‘Headless eCommerce’. It just means that you don’t need to have a preexisting online store. There are other great benefits of using a Facebook Shop page, including:

  • Sell an unlimited number of products
  • Organise your products into categories and collections
  • Easily communicate with customers
  • Share your products on Facebook Marketplace
  • Access stats on your sales, visits and more.

If you use Shopify for your eCommerce, the good news is that these platforms are now integrated. This means you can sync your products straight from Shopify to Facebook and manage your sales using a single admin.
